Privacy policy

1. Who we are

The data controller is Sofico Le Baron, part of SOFICO Holding, with its head office in Egypt.

2. What we collect

• Enquiry form: your name, company, country, email address, phone number (optional), whether you are a buyer or supplier, the product, quantity, Incoterm, port, shipment period, any price indication (bid or offer) you give, and your message.
• Fraud reports: the information you choose to send us about a suspected fake offer.
• Job applications: your CV and the contact details you send to our HR email address.
• Security check: when you submit a form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are not an automated program. It processes technical data such as your IP address and browser characteristics.
• Usage statistics: we count page visits without cookies and without identifying you (see section 8).

We do not ask for special categories of data, such as health or religious data, and we ask you not to include them in messages.

3. Why we use it

We use your data only for these purposes and on these legal grounds under Article 6 of Law No. 151 of 2020:

• To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quotation or contract at your request (steps you ask for before a contract).
• To screen counterparties against sanctions and restricted-party lists before we trade (legal obligations).
• To investigate fake offers made in our name and protect you and us from fraud.
• To consider job applications you send us.
• Where we rely on your consent, given by ticking the box on the enquiry form, you can withdraw it at any time.

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

• Our offices in Egypt, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Bulgaria, and SOFICO Holding, where needed to handle your enquiry.
• Service providers that run this website for us under contract: website hosting (Vercel Inc.), enquiry database, email delivery, and spam protection (Cloudflare, Inc.).
• Banks, inspection companies, shipping and insurance providers, but only once we are preparing a trade with you.
• Public authorities, where the law requires it.

5. Transfers outside Egypt

Some of the parties above are located outside Egypt, including our offices in Turkey, the UAE and Bulgaria and service providers in the United States and the European Union. We transfer personal data abroad only as permitted by Law No. 151 of 2020, including obtaining any licence required from the Personal Data Protection Center.

6. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, then delete or anonymise it.

7. Your rights

Under Law No. 151 of 2020 you have the right to:

• know what personal data we hold about you and obtain a copy of it;
• withdraw your consent;
• have your data corrected, updated, completed or erased;
• restrict processing to a specific scope;
• be told about any personal data breach that affects you;
• object to processing that conflicts with your fundamental rights and freedoms.

To exercise these rights, contact us at the privacy email in section 1. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Center in Egypt.

8. Cookies and analytics

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, so we do not show a cookie banner. We measure visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which works without cookies and does not identify individual visitors. The Cloudflare Turnstile security check on our forms only processes what it needs to tell people from automated programs.

If we ever add cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

9. Security

All traffic to this website is encrypted (HTTPS). Enquiries are stored in a database that only authorised staff can access.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The version and date at the top show when it last changed. We keep a record of which version applied when you submitted an enquiry.
